Safety tips
Most meetings go fine. These habits make the rare bad one much less likely — and easier to leave.
Before you meet
- Chat here first. Move to a video call before meeting if you can — it's the fastest way to see if someone is who they say.
- Look for the ❄️ ID-verified badge, and treat it as one signal, not a guarantee.
- Be wary of anyone who asks for money, gift cards or financial help — for any reason. Report them.
- Keep your address, workplace and daily routine to yourself until you trust them.
The first date
- Pick a public place and a daytime or early-evening time. The Ventures section finds options near you.
- Tell a friend who you're meeting, where, and when you'll check in.
- Arrive and leave on your own. Don't accept a ride from someone you've just met.
- Watch your drink, and keep your phone charged.
- You never owe anyone a second drink, a longer date, or an explanation. Leaving early is fine.
Online
- Choose who can message you in Boundaries — for example, ID-verified members only.
- You can block anyone at any time; they can't see or contact you after that.
- Be careful with links and requests to move to another app right away.
If something goes wrong
- In danger now? Call your local emergency number (911 in the US).
- Use Report on their profile or in your chat with them. Reports go to a person, and you can include the message as evidence.
- If you've been assaulted, RAINN's hotline is free and confidential: 1-800-656-4673.
- If someone is blackmailing you with images, stop replying, keep the messages, and report it to us and to the police.
